  • The trail is not maintained during the winter. Travel at your own risk.

  • Be Prepared! Plan ahead and take the appropriate clothing, wear comfortable shoes, and bring plenty of drinking water. Colorado weather conditions are unpredictable, planning ahead can mean the difference between a safe fun trip and a miserable walk back to the car.

EMERGENCIES ON THE TRAIL

Accidents can happen or someone can become ill. Many sections of the trail are distant from roads and houses. Whenever possible, take a cellular phone with you when using the trail. If a major emergency arises call 911. Be sure to tell the operator where you are on the trail. The Kodak section has mile markers, note them as you pass. The proper authorities will be dispatched to handle the situation. Members of the Sheriff's Posse and bike patrol units will be on the trail from time to time. If you see a non-emergency condition on the trail that needs attention, please call the trail office at 970-350-9783 and leave information about where and what the situation is so it can be fixed. If you leave your name and number we can contact you for more information if needed.
