This section along the Cache la Poudre River is a Colorado State Wildlife area that seeks to preserve the natural riparian habitat for wildlife. It is a wonderful spot for bird watching. Here you will find wild turkeys wandering about in groups as well as eagles, hawks, and a variety of waterfowl.

Trailhead for the Poudre River Trail

To reach this trailhead from Windsor, go South on County Road 19 / Highway 257, just under 2 miles from Main Street, you will see a road heading East. Here there is a parking lot, informational signs, a portable restroom, but no water.

Wild Turkeys at Kodak Watchable Wildlife Area, Windsor, Colorado

Follow the Poudre River Trail to the East of this trailhead where it runs adjacent to the Cache la Poudre River to view the Kodak Watchable Wildlife area. There are benches to sit and ponder the meandering river or to wait for a chance visit from a bird of prey. Deer have also been seen on the other side of the river at this location. This is the closest access to view the Bluffs as well.

If you follow the trail West of this trailhead, you will wander through the residential area of Water Valley and eventually down to Eastman Park, where there are drinking fountains and indoor restrooms.
