The Poudre River Learning Center will be the meeting place for the 2012 Poudre River Trail-athlon
The Poudre Learning Center is a premier facility for interdisciplinary learning that will focus on the importance of history, science, economics, stewardship and aesthetics of the Cache la Poudre River in Northeastern Colorado.
At this 65-acre site, your family or your class can learn about the role that the Poudre River played in local history. You will find out how early settlers made irrigation ditches and dams in order to utilize the water from the river for agriculture. You can walk down to the ponds along the river. These ponds are the result of gravel pit mining, but now serve as an excellent habitat for the local wildlife. WEBSITE
About 1/4 mile to the East of the Poudre Learning Center the trail narrows a bit as it follows the base of the Signature Bluffs. This is an exceptionally pretty section of the trail.
