The paved path has gentle grades, few traffic crossings, exposure to nature and wildlife, and great exercise: a perfect family outing. -
Enchanting waterscapes are everywhere along the trail. -
The Poudre trail is a pleasant walking trail with lovely views of
the river and the
meadows. -
The Poudre Learning Center is a premier facility for learning that focuses on the importance of history and science of the Cache la Poudre River in Weld County Colorado. -
See the seasons change...enjoy exquisite autumn colors when the cottonwoods change to a brilliant yellow against the deep blue Colorado skies. -
The Poudre River Trail Corridor is a bird watchers paradise. There are bald eagles, golden eagles, pelicans, red-tailed hawks, blue herons and more. -
There are decorative red granite markers every 1/4 mile and award-winning story posts to guide your way. -
The backdrop is the expansive views of the peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park -
We welcome volunteers to help us with trail maintenance and events. -

Informative and educational signs are located along the trail to help you learn about the wildlife and the history of the area.

This 86-acre area on the Cache la Poudre River is pure and wild with a bounty of wildlife.
Trailhead for the Poudre River Trail
The trailhead is located at the intersection of 71st Avenue and the Poudre River. Head North out of Greeley on 71st Street. You will pass North Ridge High School, at that point 71st Avenue takes a couple of turns. Just past the second turn you will see the parking area to the left. You will spot the area by the bright red barn. There is ample parking and a restroom, but no running water.

Poudre River Ranch Natural Area is a vast area of natural river habitat with a large pond, cottonwood stands, cattails and meadows. You can take canoes and kayaks out on the pond or go fishing (a fishing license is required). There are also some dirt trails to get back into the more remote areas. This is an excellent place for birdwatching and to see other wildlife as well.
